America Kills Bill

AMERICA KILLS BILL

Americans spoke loud and clear to their politicians that they did not want the immigration reform bill that the Senate attempted to sneak through like burglars in the dead of night. Not only did they think we would be asleep, but they thought we would roll over in our sleep and accept what they wanted to ram down our throats.

Now, the question becomes, “Just who can we trust?”

On the Democratic side we already know we cannot trust them to do what is right for our country as their candidates believe turning our country into a socialist regime is what is best for us. They speak to us as if we were children. We do not really know what is good for us, so they will decide. They will make the hard decisions for us through socialized health care and deciding to whom and what we can listen. Their candidates see the Islamic war as either a bumper sticker or a police action item ala the Clinton 1990’s.

The Republicans have destroyed our faith in them by their big spending, corruption, and their inability to listen to their base. Our conservative values are no longer displayed by our average Republican representative. Some Republicans were willing to work with one of the most notoriously corrupt Senators, Teddy Kennedy, in pasting together a bill that was substantially missing the real meat. What is so difficult about securing the borders is something of a mystery to me. There are many and varied opinions and hypothetical reasons regarding why the Republicans do not see this one demand for which the American people have asked. Is that too much, to ask/demand our government secure our borders?

With that in mind, now I and many people like me are searching for something to believe in again. When I was a child, I over heard my parents debating the crookedness of the politicians. How many years do we put up with this corruption and greed in Washington?

What do we do? One poster on TH recently said that all the faxes, emails, letters and phone calls will prove to have been futile. The poster suggested we take action now such as protesting in the streets like the pro immigration people do. Would it make a difference?

Are our politicians worth saving? Do we need to throw every last one of them out of office and start over again with what the Founding Fathers wrote in their wisdom, “Government for the people, by the people”? This is not what we have now. We have government by the politicians, for the politicians. The “People” have become an anchor around the necks of the politicians. We are getting in the way of their personal goals.

This immigration reform bill is not completely dead and it will be brought back up again. How or when I do not know. I just know that we need to remain vigilant to every last move these politicians make. We need to watch every piece of legislation they introduce as closely as possible. We can no longer sit back on our laurels and believe that anything they do represents us or is for the good of our country.

For me, the only people I can trust now are my fellow citizens who do want what is good for our country. These are die hard patriots, many of whom have fought for this country to maintain our freedoms. Many would gladly fight again if necessary. I no longer believe our government has any concern over protecting us as stated in the Constitution. We will need to rely on ourselves and one another for protection.

For the awful truth is our elected politicians are not representing us, they have become our enemy.
